Supplies for 3 years

Post by Leo B »

You can use the supplies calculator to get an idea of how much and what you need to store:
https://providentliving.com/preparednes ... /foodcalc/
Example family calculation for 3 years:
  • Grain (includes wheat, white rice, oats, corn, barley, pasta, etc.): 5500 lb
  • Legumes (dried beans, split peas, lentils, nuts, etc.): 800 lb
  • Dairy Products (powdered milk, cheese powder, canned cheese, etc.): 400 lb
  • Sugars (brown sugar, syrup, molasses, honey, etc.): 800 lb
  • Leavening Agents (yeast, baking powder, powdered eggs, etc.): 80 lb
  • Salt (Table salt, sea salt, soy sauce, bouillon, etc.): 80 lb
  • Fats (Vegetable oils, shortening, canned butter, etc.): 400 lb
  • Water: 180 gallons
Long-term storage also calls for storage solutions such as drying, freezing, vacuum-sealing, pickling.
