Car modifications for apocalypse

There are two ways I've read people are preparing a car: modifications for harsh climate winter and modifications for off-road travel. For example, people living in Yakutsk, Siberia are sealing their vehicles at the bottom, have a warm jackets for engines and plug them in into power outlets, keep small heaters or a single candle to keep people warm if need be, keep battery boosters/booster cables warm and handy, take their batteries home when not in use, use a add-on heaters for defrosting engines, and defrosting locks, something else? - I'd like to see a full list here.
For off-road there must be a similar list of things to do, just as there must be one for Zombie-apocalypse. Post it here if you have it please.

If it’s a bigger vehicle like a cube van or a bus the roof should have a bunch of solar panels for all our power needs for longer trips or charging tools in the field.
